Traffic stop leads to arrest for drug offense

Ashley Nichols, 32, of Mooresville, was arrested by Troutman police on Thursday (August 22) on charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for controlled substances, possession of simple Schedule III substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, officers stopped a vehicle on Flower House Loop for an expired license plate. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle due to suspicious behavior. The officer noticed a glass container in the vehicle with a crystal-like substance in it. It turned out to be methamphetamine.

The driver, Ashley Nichols, was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center on $4,000 bail. She was not listed as an inmate as of today (August 23). A District Court appearance is scheduled for September 11.
