OSBI investigates fatal police-involved shooting in Mustang

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), one person was killed following a police-involved shooting in Mustang.

According to OSBI, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Mustang Road and Carson Road.

Investigators said a Mustang police officer was responding to a welfare check when he made contact with the man.

It was during this interaction that the shooting involving a police officer occurred.

We have been advised that the officer involved in the incident was not injured and it is not clear at this time whether the man was armed.

The OSBI is currently working with the Mustang police to reconstruct the circumstances of the shooting.

“This is a safe area,” said Mustang Police Chief Mike Wallace. “This is a very unusual operation. This is not common, so stay calm. This is far from a regular occurrence.”

The officer involved in the shooting will be placed on regular paid administrative leave pending the investigation.

This is an evolving story.
