Penn Yan man arrested for property damage and dumping of trash

Penn Yan Police arrested 20-year-old Mason L. Petersen on August 13 following a criminal damage charge. Petersen is accused of intentionally damaging another person's property, with repair costs exceeding $250. During the incident, Petersen was also observed throwing out trash, which was captured on surveillance video from a local business.

After his arrest, Petersen's case was handled at the Penn Yan Police Department. The charges against him include third-degree criminal damage and littering. He was then transferred to the custody of the Yates County Jail.

Petersen now awaits a central arraignment to face the charges against him. The case remains under investigation as authorities review the circumstances of the incident.
