J. Balvin makes his film acting debut in the crime drama “Little Lorraine”

J Balvin will make his big screen debut in the upcoming film as an Interpol investigator investigating a drug smuggling operation. Little Lorraineaccordingly diversity.

The film appears to be loosely based on true events from the 1980s, and tells the story of how a remote fishing and mining village in Nova Scotia became a hub for cocaine smuggling. Balvin's Interpol investigator is drawn north while investigating a Colombian drug ring suspected of smuggling product through the area.

In addition to Balvin, Sean Astin and Stephen Amell star in the film. Little is known about Astin's role, but Amell is set to play an unemployed coal miner who gets a job on a lobster boat that is part of the smuggling operation. Last year, singer-songwriter Adam Baldwin released a song called “Lighthouse in Little Lorraine,” and Hines directed the music video, both documenting the chaos and crime that engulfed a small village when some of its citizens became involved in a drug smuggling operation.

Around the time of the song's release, Baldwin spoke about it on TikTok, describing the real-life town of Little Lorraine and its harbor as “the setting for a story I wrote that is partly fact and mostly fiction.” He added, “It's a story about drug trafficking, betrayal and murder.”

“I've started acting – real acting, not just cameo appearances – and I just finished filming a movie I'm in that's coming out next year,” he said. “I love that side of me. One of my biggest dreams is to play one of the most hated villains in history. I want to be like Negan in The Walking Dead. I want to walk down the street and hear someone shouting at me, 'I hate you!' because that shows how good an actor I am.”
