Mike Macdonald gives injury updates on Rayshawn Jenkins, Jerome Baker and other Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are nearing the end of their preseason training. On Thursday they finished training ahead of Saturday's finale against the Cleveland Browns. Several notable players were missing from the last training sessions, including safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who recently suffered a leg/foot injury.

Head coach Mike Macdonald spoke about the availability and progress of five players. Fortunately, there is nothing to suggest it will be long-term.

LB Jerome Baker

Baker was out with a hamstring injury sustained shortly after being activated from the PUP list.

“He's going in the right direction,” Macdonald said. “We did an ACT (Acclimation Communication Technique) today, so he was able to do a few more reps than if we had been running at full speed.”

S Rayshawn Jenkins and CB Tre Brown

Jenkins suffered a foot/leg injury during practice on Wednesday. Brown hasn't practiced at all this week due to an unspecified injury, but it doesn't sound serious. Jenkins seems to be more of a TBD, which could mean K'Von Wallace starts against the Browns on Saturday.

“With Rayshawn (Jenkins) we don’t know the schedule yet and with Tre (Brown) we will probably practice next week,” Macdonald said.

TEs Noah Fant and Pharaoh Brown and their availability in Week 1

Both men are dealing with foot injuries sustained on separate days. Will they be ready for Week 1? Macdonald suggests they are on track to be available for Opening Day, but he has made no firm commitments.

“I don't think the probability has changed or anything like that,” Macdonald said. “They're on schedule. A lot can happen between now and then, so I don't want to give you one thing or another, but we're optimistic.”

In the meantime, there is no update on right tackle Abe Lucas. Granted, the question wasn't asked given what happened a few days ago, but practice is over for the week. Unless you seriously believe that Lucas only needs the few practices between next week and game week to be ready for the Denver Broncos, it's almost certain that he'll end up on the PUP.
