Robbery reported in Redwood City after traffic accident

A Redwood City woman was arrested Wednesday in Santa Cruz County on suspicion of robbery, hit-and-run and eluding police, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of reckless driving in the area of ​​State Highway 1 and Miramontes Point Road in Half Moon Bay. An investigation reportedly revealed that a driver was involved in a hit-and-run crash with another driver, which resulted in no injuries.

The victim followed the suspect to Highway 1 and Tunitas Creek Road, where the suspect stopped and confronted the victim, the sheriff's office said. During that confrontation, the suspect allegedly violently robbed the person before getting back into his car and fleeing.

Officers spotted the suspect driving south on Highway 1 near Pomponio State Beach. They initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect did not yield and a chase ensued. The Sheriff's Office provided air support and California Highway Patrol officers deployed spike barriers to stop the vehicle.

Heidi Buttery, 42, was arrested without incident in Santa Cruz County and booked into Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of robbery, hit-and-run with property damage and fleeing from a police officer.

As of Thursday evening, Buttery was still in custody with bail set at $187,500. She is scheduled to appear in court Friday at 1:30 p.m.
