Shooting in a Georgetown County neighborhood leads to drug arrests a week later

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A shooting call in Georgetown County led to the arrest of two people nearly a week later.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said Samuel Robinson, 42, and Tiffany Robinson, 34, were both arrested Thursday after officers executed a search warrant at a home on Keever Street.

An incident report obtained by WMBF News on Friday said the search stemmed from an Aug. 15 incident in which officers responded to a shooting call. According to the documents, Tiffany Robinson told officers a man came to her home uninvited and became upset when he was asked to leave. She then told authorities she heard five and six gunshots, including one that may have struck a vehicle.

The report says officers later found five cartridges in a ditch near the road.

However, a neighbor told officers that he saw a man, later identified as Samuel Robinson, fire first at the suspected shooter. Samuel Robinson was not at the scene when officers arrived.

Tiffany Robinson told officers she had not spoken to the suspected shooter in over two weeks and knew him only by his street name – but officers were later able to identify him. Authorities also pointed out that the suspected shooter “is prohibited from possessing firearms at the federal level, but not in the state of South Carolina.”

Another witness account mentioned in the report said they knew the suspected shooter and saw him being dropped off in a black sedan. They also said they heard several gunshots and saw the suspect put an AK rifle in a bag.

They also claimed to have spoken to the suspect after the shooting. The suspect told them that Tiffany Robinson called him and asked him to come over because she and Samuel Robinson had been arguing. According to the report, the suspect also told this witness that Samuel Robinson shot him first and he returned fire in self-defense.

According to the documents, the suspect also showed the witness where Tiffany Robinson allegedly told him to come.

On August 16, a deputy returned to the scene, where Tiffany Robinson again testified that she did not tell the suspect to come over and that Samuel Robinson was not at the scene at the time of the incident. Samuel Robinson also told deputies that he was at his mother's house.

However, while speaking with him, officers discovered a warrant for Samuel Robinson's arrest and arrested him. Records indicate it was a charge of shoplifting.

Deputies also reported that Samuel Robinson was under the influence of a narcotic and was taken to a hospital before being booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Authorities were unable to speak to Samuel Robinson until August 19, but he was unwilling to be questioned about the incident and stated he wanted a lawyer. He was released on August 20 on $2,500 bail, according to records.

According to the documents, a search warrant was signed for the Keever Street home on Aug. 21, and officers arrived the next day to execute it. The sheriff's office said Samuel Robinson and Tiffany Robinson were subsequently arrested and charged with methamphetamine trafficking.

The agency said officers found quantities of a substance believed to be meth, as well as drug paraphernalia, including two digital scales.

Samuel Robinson was additionally charged with possession of ammunition by a prohibited person after “firearm-related items” were found on him.

Records show Tiffany Robinson has been held at the Georgetown County Detention Center since Friday morning, but no active listing was found for Samuel Robinson. WMBF News has reached out to the sheriff's office for more details.

WMBF News also asked about the status of the suspected shooter Friday morning.
