Kanawha County sex offender sentenced to prison in new child pornography case

A registered sex offender from Kanawha County was sentenced to prison Thursday in another child pornography case, prosecutors said.

Benson Cline II, 49, of Cedar Grove was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison followed by 20 years of probation for possession of child pornography depicting prepubescent children, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. He must also pay $8,800 in restitution.

Cline, a registered sex offender from a 2011 solicitation of minors case, was found guilty of storing 22 photos and 134 videos depicting child sexual abuse of infants, toddlers and prepubescent males and females on his phone, the news release said.

Prosecutors said some of the materials also contained cases of zoophilia, sadomasochism and torture.
