Russellville man shoots during robbery, charged with attempted murder

RUSSELLVILLE, Kentucky – A Russellville man is charged with attempted murder following a robbery.

In an indictment obtained by WNKY News 40, the Logan County District Court of the Commonwealth of Kentucky states that 19-year-old Rakeal Elliot of Russellville committed a robbery on July 20, 2024.

The office states that during the robbery, Elliot threatened to commit the theft by pointing a firearm at a man and firing a shot.

The document states that a juvenile was present at the crime scene and was within firing range.

Elliot is also accused of taking the keys to a woman's car and stealing items with a total value of less than $500.

The Logan County District Court issued an arrest warrant on August 20, 2024.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office served the warrant on West Third Street on August 22, 2024. Elliot was taken into custody and is being held at the Logan County Detention Center.

The grand jury charged Elliot with attempted murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment (discharging a firearm), and theft by unauthorized possession or disposition of a motor vehicle.
