Two people were killed and several others injured in a tragic accident in Nabdam district of the Upper East Region after a bus overturned near Nangode.

The incident, according to citinewsroom.com, occurred in the early hours of Friday morning after the driver of the bus, which was en route from Kumasi to Bawku, allegedly handed over control of the vehicle to his bus conductor (co-driver).

However, as the bus approached a speed bump, the driver boarding the bus lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn violently, the report said.

As a result of the impact, two passengers died instantly and numerous others suffered injuries of varying severity.

One of the passengers, Adam Iddrisu Emmanuel, described the harrowing experience: “This morning, as we were travelling from Kumasi to Bawku, the driver slammed on the brakes and suddenly the bus seemed to lose its balance before crashing into a bridge.”

The bus had left Adehyeman near Kejetia in Kumasi and was on its way to Garu when the tragic incident occurred.
