Arizona Cardinals announce injury to Darius Robinson

ARIZONA – Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Friday morning that defensive end Darius Robinson's injury, sustained during yesterday's practice, was a calf injury.

“Reports have come out that happened in the closed portion of training, so I'm not really upset about it, guys. The guys that were there and didn't report on it, thanks for following our guidelines. He's going to have imaging done today. He's got a calf injury. [injury]. Have to get the reports today,” Gannon said.

Yesterday, Robinson was observed attending the public training session.

Later in the day, Chuck Harris reported that Robinson was carried off the field – which happened during the closed portion of practice. Howard Balzer also reported that Robinson was injured and would undergo imaging on Friday.

The Cardinals will play their final game of the season this week against the Denver Broncos, and with final roster cuts scheduled for Tuesday (8/27), a potential long-term absence for Robinson could impact the team's roster composition.

Arizona, like the rest of the NFL, has next week off before preparing for its opening game of Week 1 of the regular season against the Buffalo Bills.

Robinson was selected by the Cardinals as a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Missouri.

Robinson was used in numerous spots by Arizona's defensive team, making waves in training camp and the team's season opener against the New Orleans Saints before sitting out a Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
