Positive injury update for veteran Michigan State football wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr.

One of the worst things that can happen to a football team in August during fall camp is for one of their star players to get injured. We all know that injuries happen, and that they will certainly occur during the regular season, but the absolute worst time for them to happen is before the season starts.

Unfortunately for Michigan State football, wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. suffered a minor injury in one of their practice games about a week and a half ago. Foster is the most experienced player in the wide receiver room and, quite frankly, the only receiver with any amount of tangible experience, so losing Foster would be one of the biggest setbacks this team could suffer.

Fortunately, the injury was very minor and he is reportedly back to full fitness.

On3's Kenny Jordan reported Thursday that wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins said Foster is back “at full speed.” Of course, it's great that he's back and will be ready for Michigan State's game against Florida Atlantic in Week 1, but the timing of his return couldn't be better.

With the Spartans' season opener in a week, Foster will have plenty of time to get back into full shape before the season starts. He will also be a full participant in the team's preparations for Florida Atlantic, which likely begin any day now.

Yes, Michigan State has other options at the wide receiver position that could have taken Foster's spot, but none of them would command the same level of trust from both the coaching staff and the rest of the offense as Foster.

Thankfully, we no longer have to worry about that and can now look forward to Foster hopefully starting his season strong with a game-changing game against FAU next week.
