Man allegedly drove away with 14-year-old girl near Harris County and threatened to shoot her father

HOUSTON – A man accused of kidnapping a young girl in front of her parents has been arrested and charged, according to Harris County 6th Precinct police detective.

Ruben Elijah Rodriguez, 25, was charged with aggravated kidnapping and booked into the Harris County Jail. His bail was set at $100,000.

The incident was reported on August 15 after a sergeant was stopped in the 1200 block of North Cesar Chavez Boulevard for the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl.

Officials said the teen's parents told the sergeant the man drove away with their daughter. Rodriguez allegedly threatened to shoot the father if he approached his vehicle.

After identifying the suspect's license plate, officers pursued the vehicle. Rodriguez reportedly dropped the teen off near 2805 Navigation Blvd. and continued driving north. After he was located, Precinct 4 arrested Rodriguez so Precinct 6 could take him into custody.

Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in court on October 29.
