Request for bail reduction for mother accused of death of her daughter rejected

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A judge denied a request for a bail reduction from a mother charged in connection with the death of her teenage daughter.

Julie Miller is accused of child neglect resulting in death.

On Friday, the judge found Miller in violation of a court order. The judge said Miller used the jail phone to contact her parents, Jerry Stone and Donna Stone, who are also charged with child neglect resulting in death.

Miller was arrested after officers were dispatched to the home in the Morrisvale neighborhood of Boone County on Wednesday, April 17, in connection with the cardiac arrest of fourteen-year-old Kyneddi Miller.

The judge also expressed concerns that Miller would violate future orders if her bail was reduced and she was released on bail.

The criminal complaint states that Miller “failed to exercise the minimum level of care to ensure the physical safety and health of the teenager.”

Kyneddi's body was found emaciated and skeletal.

According to MPs, the child had not received any medical treatment for at least four years.

MPs described the teenager’s appearance as “shocking.”

The criminal investigation revealed that the teenager had not been to school since late 2019/early 2020. She had only left the house about twice in four years and had not eaten anything for months. The family told officials that the child was suffering from an eating disorder.

The criminal complaint states that Jerry and Donna Stone lived with the teenager in the Morrisvale home.
