Manchester United winger Amad Diallo delivered tragic news on Friday as he confirmed the death of his mother.

The 22-year-old Premier League star shared a photo of his late mother on Snapchat along with the message: “Rest in peace mum, may Allah forgive you.”

It is currently unclear whether or not Amad will be withdrawn from United's squad for Saturday's Premier League away game at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The former Rangers and Sunderland loanee played 61 minutes in the 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford last week.

Following Amad's heartbreaking message, he was inundated with messages of support from his fans on social media.

Another message read: “My condolences to Amad Diallo and his entire family on the death of his mother. Stay strong brother and REST IN PEACE wonderful mother.”

Amad spoke about his mother during an interview with manutd.com in June 2021, reflecting on his debut for United four months earlier.

Speaking about his first appearance for United in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, Amad said: “I called my mum after the game and she was in tears and said she couldn't believe it.”

“It was an incredible feeling for me because playing at the highest level only happens once in my life.”

“Mom was really proud of me. She always believed I would make it to the top, but she always told me to stay humble, work hard and never give up.

“When she saw me play for those eight minutes or so, it was all about her. We couldn't believe it.”
