Man arrested in connection with kidnapping and robbery in Norman

According to Norman police, a 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with a kidnapping, burglary and robbery that occurred Tuesday in the 200 block of E. Dale Avenue.

Police said the victim had previously hired 58-year-old Daniel Freeman to do several jobs on her home. Police said he forced his way into the 75-year-old woman's home on Tuesday.

Once inside, Freeman allegedly bound the victim's hands and feet and tied her to a chair, according to Norman police. Authorities reported that Freeman then used the victim's vehicle to withdraw money from her bank account without her permission. When that attempt failed, Freeman untied the victim and forced her to accompany him to the bank, where he coerced her into withdrawing money, police said.

Norman police confirmed that Freeman was arrested without incident by officers from the Special Investigations Division on August 22. Police reported that he was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on charges of kidnapping, first-degree burglary and robbery.

The incident is still under investigation, according to Norman police.
