Drug investigation in Orangeburg County leads to seizure of drugs

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office said a multi-agency drug investigation has concluded with the seizure of a drug.

On Tuesday, investigators executed a search warrant near Sawyer Street and found an estimated 32,000 kilograms worth of cocaine hidden in a box of hair extensions.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, 40-year-old Rocsan Anquillano was charged with trafficking cocaine (400 grams or more) and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in the vicinity of a school.

Investigators for the drug seizure included representatives from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, the South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security.

Ravenell said the investigators' cooperation in combating drug trafficking was successful.

“This successful joint operation shows how effective cooperation is in the fight against drug crime,” said Ravenell. “We will use all of our resources and partnerships to dismantle criminal drug operations.”

If convicted, Anquillano faces up to 25 years in prison.

According to Sheriff Ravenell, this is an ongoing investigation.
