Sparks man convicted of drug charges; police seize 9 pounds of meth

A Sparks man was convicted this month of multiple drug trafficking and related charges, the Washoe County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Mario Fertini, 33, was found guilty in a jury trial on August 8 on two counts of drug trafficking and one count each of conspiracy to violate the controlled substances law, possession of drugs with intent to sell and illegal possession of a firearm.

In September, a witness told a Reno police officer that Fertini, also known as Anttwon Fogers, was selling methamphetamine and other drugs in the area. Investigators found that Fertini had an outstanding warrant for attempted drug trafficking and had a prior criminal history related to drugs, the prosecutor said.

Police observed Fertini for several weeks before arresting him at his home on a warrant. After searching his home during the arrest, investigators seized 9 pounds of methamphetamine and a gun.

The verdict against Fertini is scheduled for October 28.
