2 seriously injured after accident involving two vehicles on country road in Missouri

PITTSVILLE, Missouri (KCTV) – Two people were seriously injured when a two-vehicle collision caused a Jeep to crash into a stop sign on a Missouri highway east of Pittsville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that on Thursday, August 22, at approximately 5:40 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the area of westbound Highway 50 and NW 1201 Rd. in Johnson Co., east of Pittsville, for a report of a two-vehicle collision.

When emergency responders arrived, they found Taylor J. Hazel, 33, of Holden, Missouri, attempting to cross the highway in her 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, Yu-Tong Wang, 26, of State College, Pennsylvania, struck the passenger side of Hazel's Jeep with his 2023 Nissan Sentra.

Police determined that the collision caused the Jeep to veer off the left side of the road and hit a stop sign.

First responders said Wang's passenger, 26-year-old Wan-Hsuan Huang of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Hazel were both taken to Western Missouri Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to MSHP, Hazel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. No further information has been released.
