JD Vance returns to Michigan to talk about economy, inflation and manufacturing

BIG RAPIDS, MI – Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance will deliver remarks on the economy, inflation and manufacturing in a speech in Big Rapids, his campaign said.

Vance, Donald Trump's running mate, will speak at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Majestic Friesians Horse Farms, 21750 19 Mile Road, the campaign said.

In a statement about the visit, Vance criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for president. Vance said he disagreed with Democrats' policies on the economy, inflation and the auto industry in Michigan.

“From gas to putting food on the table, the burden of rising prices is a reality that Michiganders face every day,” Vance said in a press release. “It's clear that Kamala's dangerously liberal policies have not delivered the economic stability Americans need.”

Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and Vance will begin his speech at 1:30 p.m., campaign officials said.

Michigan is considered a key state in the presidential race this fall. The visit to Big Rapids is Vance's fourth visit to Michigan since July.

Vance was in Michigan less than two weeks ago when he visited rural Kent County on August 14. He reported that during Harris's tenure, food and energy prices have risen, jobs have been lost to immigrants, and crime and overdose rates have increased.

Vance also gave a speech in Macomb County earlier this month and attended a rally with Trump in Grand Rapids in June.

Harris has also visited the state. On Wednesday, July 17, Harris visited southwest Michigan to speak about reproductive rights, criticize political violence and criticize Vance as Trump's choice for vice president.
