15-year-old Saranac girl dies after accident in Ionia County

KEENE TWP, Michigan (WILX) – A teenager was killed in a car crash in Ionia County Friday afternoon, sheriff's officials said in a statement.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 10,000 block of Sayles Road in Keene Twp. for a report of an accident.

There, officers found that a 16-year-old girl from Saranac had been driving east before she left the road and crashed into a tree.

Rescue workers found one passenger, a 15-year-old girl, dead at the scene of the accident. The second passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash is currently being investigated.
