People in Afrin and Shahba demand the physical freedom of leader Öcalan

The Kurds continue their struggle for the physical freedom of the leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in Imrali prison, using different methods and means. For example, they go to public squares almost every day and organize cultural and intellectual events that highlight the leader's ideas.

Political leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held on the prison island of Imrali in the Sea of Marmara in Turkey for more than 25 years as a result of an international conspiracy by international and regional powers. He was detained in the Kenyan capital Nairobi in 1999 and handed over to the Turkish authorities on February 15 of the same year. For more than 41 months, no information has been available about him, despite requests from his family and lawyer.

Citizen Sabri Ismail, an internally displaced person from the occupied city of Afrin, described the actions of the Turkish authorities against leader Abdullah Öcalan as “immoral practices and cowardly acts”.

Sabri Ismail stressed that these practices could not affect their determination to demand the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Citizen Aslan Bakr reiterated their insistence on the physical release of leader Abdullah Öcalan and their continued calls to break the international silence.

He stated that the head of state's analyses were sufficient to achieve freedom for the people of the region.

Citizen Rania Ahmed stresses that military, political and social struggle and determination are needed for the release of leader Abdullah Öcalan.

She called on all those who believe in the ideas of leader Abdullah Öcalan to continue the fight for his physical freedom.
