Pittsburg experiences cybersecurity incident

PITTSBURG, CA – On or about August 18, 2024, the City of Pittsburg discovered a security incident affecting a portion of our computer systems. Upon discovery, we immediately took steps to secure our systems and engaged third-party cybersecurity specialists to assist with the investigation.

Our engagement with cybersecurity specialists is ongoing, and while we aim to be transparent and open with information about the incident, we do not want to make any hasty assumptions about the extent of the impact or other details that may emerge during the forensic investigation.

We understand the concern that such an incident can cause to our residents, staff and partners. We have informed the Federal Police about the incident and want to assure everyone that we are taking this matter seriously.

Once the investigation is complete and we determine that personal information is affected, we will notify the affected individuals directly. We value the trust and credibility we have built and strive to ensure the accuracy of the information we share.

The City is implementing measures to ensure business operations can continue safely and securely. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
