Man pleads not guilty to murder and attempted murder in Point Loma shooting

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A man accused of going on a rampage in his home that left his mother injured and two other people dead pleaded not guilty Friday to murder and attempted murder charges.

According to San Diego police, 60-year-old William Bushey shot the victims shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday in the home he shared with his mother in the 3600 block of Zola Street, one block from Point Loma High School.

When officers rushed to the scene, they found Bushey with a shotgun nearby in front of the residence, SDPD Lt. Jud Campbell said.

Bushey's 85-year-old mother was found injured, while a woman believed to be in her 60s and a man believed to be in his 30s died at the scene.

A criminal complaint identified the deceased victims as Laurie Robinson and Brett Robinson. Police said Bushey's mother suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Officials have not identified the relationship between Bushey and the deceased victims.

The indictment alleges that a shotgun was used in the shooting. Bushey also faces multiple counts of murder under special circumstances, meaning he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.

Following his arraignment on Friday afternoon, he remains in custody and cannot be released on bail.
