Benton County couple charged with sex crimes against children

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – A Benton County couple is facing charges in connection with alleged sex crimes against children involving a relative.

Vince Roy Dykstra, 65, of Camden, and his 57-year-old girlfriend, Patty Ann Utley, of McKenzie, face charges of sexual abuse and human trafficking for the purpose of commercial sex acts with minors.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, a juvenile reported the couple to police on August 20 because of alleged inappropriate sexual conduct between the juvenile and Dykstra, which was orchestrated by Utley.

The child was staying with a relative, Utley. Dykstra is Utley's boyfriend.

Utley is charged with alleged human trafficking for the purpose of commercial sexual activity involving a minor. Dykstra is charged with alleged sexual abuse of a minor.

Benton County Sheriff Ken Christopher said officers obtained arrest warrants for the couple after the couple was reported by the juvenile.

Both were arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Utley and Dykstra appeared before Judge Endland the next day, August 21. Bail was reduced to $75,000. Both Utley and Dykstra were released on bail on August 21.

The juvenile no longer resides with Utley and a restraining order has been placed between the parties and the victim.

Dykstra and Utley will appear in Gibson County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on August 28
