Aspiring Davis County politician arrested for child sexual abuse

WEST BOUNTIFUL — An aspiring politician from West Bountiful has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a child.

On Friday, 37-year-old Brady John Tracy was booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of three counts of attempted and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, according to a police affidavit.

According to the charging documents, Tracy is accused of indecently touching a child on two separate occasions between April and November 2023 and, on another occasion, exposing himself to the child and asking her to touch him.

According to the affidavit, police are requesting that Tracy not be released on bail due to the charges against him and is likely to flee.

Tracy ran for the Utah Senate's 8th District seat, but lost at the Republican convention in April. He also ran unsuccessfully for the Utah State Board of Education's 4th District in June 2022, also losing at the Republican convention.

In the 2019 West Bountiful City Council election, Tracy dropped out after failing to file his required financial report on time. Tracy was previously defeated at the 2014 Constitutional Convention when he ran for the Utah House of Representatives' 20th District.
