MIAMI — An Amazon delivery driver was arrested for Hit and run in northeast Miami-Dade A mother and her four-month-old son had to be hospitalized on Thursday.

Miami-Dade police said they arrested Sarahy Naybeth Parra-Ovalles, 45, on Friday. She is currently facing two charges of hit-and-run causing bodily injury.

On Thursday, shortly after 8:15 a.m., Parra-Ovalles was observed driving a 2022 Hyundai SUV to the gates of Aventura Isles Estates at 605 NE 193rd St.

At the time, she identified herself to the security guard as an Amazon delivery driver and presented her driver's license. The guard then took a photo of Parra-Ovalles' license and her license plates before letting her into the gated community, arrest documents state.

Inside, Parra-Ovalles made her deliveries, which were seen on security camera video. At around 8:30 a.m., the mother was seen pushing her child in a stroller and walking a dog as she then crossed the intersection of NE 7th Ave. and 191st St.

After reaching the intersection more than halfway, Parra-Ovalles turned from 191st Street onto 7th Street, into the oncoming lane, and struck the woman and her stroller, according to arrest records. The woman was thrown backwards onto the sidewalk while the stroller was overturned and the child fell to the ground.

After the accident, Parra-Ovalles is seen stopping, getting out of her vehicle, walking over to them, setting up the stroller, placing the child in it, and leaving the scene of the accident.

Miami-Dade Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly afterward and took the mother and child to the hospital. A neighbor told CBS News Miami that the woman and her son were improving.

After further investigation, Miami-Dade Police investigators were able to identify Parra-Ovalles as the driver. She was arrested and charged on Friday afternoon.

CBS News Miami reached out to Amazon for comment but did not receive a response.
