Saginaw works with Congress to secure federal funds for crime prevention

SAGINAW, Michigan – As we enter the second half of 2024, Saginaw Police are conducting their twelfth homicide investigation.

Saginaw Police, the Mayor's Office and other organizations are working to prevent crime in the city, and Congress is hoping to help with much-needed funding.

Congressman Dan Kildee has requested federal funding for the Saginaw region to be used for community violence intervention, citizen engagement, and critical technology improvements for Saginaw law enforcement.

The funding request was included in the state funding bill for fiscal year 2025.

If the funding is approved, officials hope Saginaw youth and their families will receive better support and guidance to prevent future crimes.
