Wilson Sonsini wins complete victory for Scale Computing in patent infringement case

On August 22, 2024, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, on behalf of its client Scale Computing, Inc., won a complete victory in a patent infringement trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. After a four-day trial, the jury unanimously found that Scale Computing's accused products, including the Scale Computing platform and its Scale Computing Reliable Independent Block Engine (SCRIBE), did not directly or indirectly infringe DataCore Software Corp.'s data storage patent (U.S. Patent No. 9,344,235). The jury also found all of DataCore's asserted claims invalid as provided by the prior art.

In April 2022, DataCore, an industry leader in data infrastructure and management, filed suit against Scale Computing, a leader in edge computing, virtualization and hyperconverged solutions, alleging that Scale Computing's products infringed DataCore's '235 patent.

The win is a significant achievement for Scale Computing as it validates the unique and industry-leading design of the company's products.

The Wilson Sonsini litigation team representing Scale Computing included James Yoon, Matt Reed, Chris Mays, Josh Craddock, and Alex Miller. The team received support from Arlene Apodaca, Bruce Chiang, Jenny Borrelli, Kathy Ramos, Doug Brockmeier, and Albert Garcia.
