BOONE COUNTY, Missouri (KMIZ)

An Ashland man died in the Boone County Jail on Friday after an officer noticed him showing signs of health problems, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

According to a Facebook post from the department, Ashland police took 43-year-old William Gipson to the Boone County Jail around 3 p.m. on Friday after he was arrested in Ashland.

While prison officials were booking him, Gipson was uncooperative and was physically restrained, the post said.

At around 6:30 p.m., an officer noticed Gipson showing signs of ill health and called jail staff and medical personnel for assistance. Gipson became unresponsive and CPR was performed. However, Gipson died, the department said.
