Man killed in car crash in 800 block of South Cicero Avenue in Lawndale: Chicago Police Department

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was killed in a traffic accident on the West Side early Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the accident occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 800 block of South Cicero Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood.

The driver of a silver sedan was traveling north at high speed when he collided with a turning vehicle, police said.

According to police, a 20-year-old passenger in the sedan suffered serious injuries in the accident. The Chicago Fire Department treated him and took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the sedan, identified only as a man, suffered minor injuries, police said. He was treated at a local hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Police said citations would be issued and the CPD Major Accident Unit was investigating the incident.
