Last victim of tragic yacht sinking off Sicily identified as daughter of tech tycoon

London, UK: Divers recovered the body of 18-year-old Hannah Lynch, daughter of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, from a sunken superyacht off Sicily on Friday. She is the seventh and final victim of the tragedy. The yacht “Bayesian” sank on Monday in a storm off the coast of Porticello near Palermo after being hit by a waterspout. Among the victims were 59-year-old Mike Lynch and five other people, including his daughter.

Lynch had invited friends and family on board to celebrate his recent acquittal in a major US fraud case. The bodies of Lynch and four of his friends were recovered earlier this week, while the yacht's cook was found shortly after the incident. Hannah, who had just finished her exams and was due to study at Oxford University, was remembered as intelligent and warm-hearted.

It remains unclear why the yacht sank so quickly while other boats nearby were unaffected. The Italian public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. The yacht's builder suggests that a series of errors contributed to the tragedy. Salvage operations to recover the yacht could take up to eight weeks and cost around 15 million euros.
