Maybe Housh Doucette would cause problems for NFL players in flag football

Darrell “Housh” Doucette, quarterback of the United States national flag football team, caused a stir earlier this month when he claimed he was better than Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.

“At the end of the day, I feel like I'm better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ in the game. I know he's the best in the league right now. I know he's more accurate. I know he's got all those intangibles. But when it comes to flag football, I feel like I know more than him,” Doucette told TMZ Sports.

The comments drew a witty response from Mahomes and sparked a wide range of opinions among NFL players and fans.

It also sparked a debate about the participation of professional football players in flag football when it is declared an official Olympic sport in 2028.

“I think it's disrespectful that they automatically assume they can make the Olympic team because of who they are – they didn't help make this game big enough to make it to the Olympics. The guys who helped make this game what it is deserve respect,” Doucette told The Guardian.

At this point, no one knows if NFL players will compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, but Doucette isn't giving up. He's continuing to train, and some believe he would have the upper hand in a normal 5-on-5 matchup.

There's no denying that Doucette has some impressive moves with the ball in his hands, but there are some rare athletic talents in the NFL who are just as nimble. Not to mention, NFL players have been more exposed to flag football since it replaced the traditional game at the Pro Bowl.

Maybe a meeting between Doucette's Team USA and the NFL All-Stars at the next Pro Bowl games is appropriate?
