More arrests after murder of family in house fire

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder after a woman and her three children died in a house fire in Bradford.

Bryonie Gawith, 29, and her daughter Denisty Birtle, nine, her son Oscar Birtle, five, and her daughter Aubree Birtle, 22 months, died in Westbury Road on August 21.

Two men, aged 36 and 45, were arrested and held in custody overnight in the Keighley area, West Yorkshire Police said.

A 39-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on Wednesday on suspicion of murder remains in hospital with critical injuries, police said.

A police spokesman said cordons remained in place for searches at several addresses in Carlby Grove, Carlton Street, Malsis Road and Minnie Street.

Det Ch Insp Stacey Atkinson said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing today. It is a very active and active investigation.”

“Professionals continue to support the family.

“They are understandably devastated by their loss and we ask that you respect their privacy.”

Police have asked anyone with information to come forward.

Police had previously stated that the incident was a “domestic incident” and that the fire was deliberately set.

They also confirmed that the man remaining in the hospital was the former partner of a woman who was visiting the family at the house.
