Man shot dead in Denver's Lincoln Park neighborhood

A man was shot and killed in an alleged homicide in Denver's Lincoln Park neighborhood Friday night, police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, the Denver Police Department published on social media that officers were investigating a shooting near the intersection of West 8th Avenue and Kalamath Street.

The intersection is one-half mile west of Denver Health and one mile south of Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Two hours later, the victim – an unidentified adult male – succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and Denver investigators began investigating the shooting as a homicide. Police said in an update at 11:17 p.m..

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the man's identity at a later date.
