Man killed in motorcycle accident in Macomb County

A 53-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash in Macomb County early Saturday, Chesterfield Township police said.

The man, whose name was not released by police in a news release Saturday, crashed near Gratiot Avenue and Terra Industrial Drive.

Chesterfield Police arrived at the scene at approximately 12:53 a.m. Emergency responders took the man to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators believe the man was wearing a helmet and was traveling south on Gratiot Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle. No other vehicles appear to have been involved, the press release states.

Police ask anyone with information about the accident to call Detective Kline at 586-949-3573.

A total of 25 people died and 143 were seriously injured on Michigan's roadways between Aug. 13 and Tuesday, according to Michigan State Police. The totals for each category are still less than the total number of deaths and serious injuries by this time in 2023, MSP Second District on X said.
