Rapper Jah Woo accused of murdering 13-year-old boy

Jah Woo is said to have killed the teenager in revenge for gang violence.

13-year-old Troy Gill was tragically murdered on February 29. Authorities believe rapper Jah Woo is the perpetrator. The hip-hop artist, whose real name is Jared McCauley, is currently behind bars in New York awaiting trial on 13 charges related to the child's death and a subsequent shooting.

As The New York Post Authorities reportedly outlined the charges against “No Cameras” rapper Jah Woo in an August 14 arraignment. A gang attacked and kidnapped the 21-year-old rapper on February 29. Woo was allegedly stripped naked and filmed in the humiliating incident, which was shared online. Jah Woo allegedly sought revenge afterward and shot Gill in retaliation. It is unclear if Gill was involved in the earlier incident and/or the gang allegedly connected to the kidnapping, Drench Crew.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. as Gill was walking home from a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center. Sheik Koureichi, who has already been charged, is said to have been driving Jah Woo around in a white Jeep when the rapper fired the fatal shots.

Gill reportedly survived long enough to call his mother and be taken to Kings County Hospital Center, but died at the medical facility.

Authorities allege Koureichi and the “Statements” rapper then shot up the front door of an alleged Drench Crew member. Jah Woo, who is being held without bail, faces 13 charges including murder, criminal damage and reckless endangerment.

In a statement by The publisherBrooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said, “This type of senseless retaliatory gang violence takes too many lives, including children, and my office, along with the NYPD, is focused on solving each and every one of these shootings and holding the perpetrators accountable.” Gonzalez hoped that the charges against Jah Woo “will bring some relief to Troy's loved ones.”
