Mumbai:

A 26-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with a sharp weapon after an argument and arrived at a police station in the western suburbs in the early hours of Saturday to report the attack, police said.

Intekaaf Idris Ansari entered the Malwani police station in the western suburb of Malad around 6 a.m. and told officials that his wife had lost consciousness after he attacked her, an official said.

A team was sent to Ansari's house and his wife Ayesha (22) was found lying in a pool of blood, he said.

The accused confessed to slitting his wife's throat with a sharp weapon after an argument, the officer said.

Ansari has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is being carried out, he added.
