Daniel Ricciardo F1 News: FIA announces criminal verdict after Zhou incident in Zandvoort

The FIA ​​​​has announced the outcome of its investigation following an incident in the pit lane between Daniel Ricciardo and Zhou Guanyu in FP2 at the Dutch Grand Prix.

On Friday, Formula 1 returned to the racetrack for the first time after a long summer break, but neither of the two training sessions in Zandvoort was without drama.

After FP1 was heavily influenced by rain and wind, FP2 saw a red flagwhen Haas' Nico Hülkenberg crashed into the barrier after blocking in the first corner and flying into the gravel.

Ferrari also suffered a setback in the same session: Carlos Sainz had to give up due to a gearbox problemwhich hampered the rest of their weekend with a lack of dry-run data.

FIA announces criminal verdict against Ricciardo and Zhou

Of course, that was not all, because Sauber driver Guanyu Zhou was also investigated because he had prohibited Daniel Ricciardo of Visa Cash App RB from taking a dangerous car ride.

After the meeting, the FIA ​​confirmed that Zhou's dismissal did indeed deserve a penalty because the Chinese driver and his team had violated Article 34.14 a) of the FIA ​​Formula One Sporting Regulations.

Sauber was subsequently fined 5,000 euros, which was justified as follows.

“Car 24 was let out of the pit stop station into the path of Car 3 and the driver of Car 3 had to brake to avoid a collision,”

“The race management points out that the error was made by the team and not the driver. Therefore, in accordance with previous decisions, a fine will be imposed on the team.”

Ricciardo qualified P16 in qualifying on Saturday, while Zhou fared even worse with P19.
