Texans defensive backs Brandon Hill and Kris Boyd carried off the field in the Rams' warm-up game, Case Keenum has to go to the locker room

HOUSTON – Veteran reserve quarterback Case Keenum, the third passer on the Texans’ lineup, went to the locker room early for a physical on Saturday in the final game of the season against the Los Angeles Rams.

Keenum left the field without any problems.

Keenum appeared to have injured his arm while following through on a throw. He completed 4 of 8 passes for 32 yards and was nearly intercepted on a miss as wide receiver John Metchie III was completely free before being relieved by fourth-string quarterback Tim Boyle.

Boyle completed 9 of 13 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown pass to fullback Troy Hairston in the first half at NRG Stadium.

Pro Bowl quarterback CJ Stroud is not playing today as he prepares for the season opener on September 8 against the Indianapolis Colts. Davis Mills has already secured the backup job and is established as the second quarterback behind Stroud. He did not play against the Rams. Mills has fully recovered from bruised ribs.

Texans second-year safety Brandon Hill, a seventh-round draft pick out of Pitt who intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble against the Pittsburgh Steelers, was carried off the field with a severe injury to his lower right leg. Hill lay on the field for a long time, where trainers tended to him and players went onto the field to wish him well before he was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

And reserve cornerback Kris Boyd, who had a good preseason and is considered a strong special teams player, injured his lower leg in the game against the Rams and also had to go to the locker room with trainers.
