Gunshot victim dies after early morning incident in Indio, suspect in custody

Indio police are conducting a homicide investigation after a person was shot dead in the 81600 block of Jennifer Court in Indio early Saturday morning, police said.

At 2:32 a.m., Indio officers responded to a call reporting shots fired in the area.

A second caller reported several people screaming in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound in front of a residence. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A suspect was arrested and is scheduled to be arraigned at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.

The identity of the victim has yet to be passed on to next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Indio Police or Crime Stoppers.
