Two more students arrested after gang shooting near McLane High School

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno County Sheriff's Office arrested two more students on Wednesday for their involvement in a gang shooting near McLane High School.

The shooting occurred around 3:40 p.m. in front of the AutoZone at the corner of Cedar and Clinton Avenue.

According to investigators, a group of students were standing outside when a fight broke out.

One of the 15-year-old students hit a person with a pistol, and a 16-year-old student pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

No one was injured, only a truck and a restaurant were hit by the gunfire. Investigators say the other 15-year-old student helped dispose of the weapons.

About 30 minutes after the shooting, officers arrested the 16-year-old shooter. He was found hiding in a backyard in a nearby residential area less than half a mile away.

Detectives from the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (ViCAT) arrested one 15-year-old boy on Thursday and the other on Friday.

According to investigators, both weapons have still not been found.

All three boys were sent to a youth detention center and face charges of serious weapons offenses.

Both the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and Fresno Police Department hope these arrests bring a sense of relief to the McLane High School community for the next week of school.
