Three people charged with murder of young mother in livestream

Murder in live stream, Birmingham, young mother, three defendants

The fatal shooting of Asia Alyce Poole was streamed live on Facebook.

Three people have been charged in connection with the murder of Asia Alyce Poole. She was shot to death in an apartment complex in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident was broadcast live on Facebook.

Justin Jamond Hendrix, 20, and Taylor McCloud, 22, were charged with murder in the 21-year-old woman's death. Both were also charged with attempted murder of Poole's best friend after he survived the shooting.

Both McCloud and Hendrix are being held without bail in the Jefferson County Jail.

The incident began when 19-year-old Janiyah Hendrix – Justin's sister – argued with Poole shortly before the shooting began. Although she fled the scene, she was charged with first-degree auto theft. Janiyah was taken to the county jail on $30,000 bail.

According to sources close to Poole, she and Janiyah were involved in an ongoing dispute over an unnamed man. Tensions escalated in the parking lot of Birmingham's Monarch Ridge apartment complex, where the shooting occurred.

Video evidence, which came in the form of a Facebook livestream, showed a physical altercation between Poole and Janiyah in the parking lot. After the pair walked into the complex's alleyway, more people arrived at the scene shortly before a volley of bullets were fired at Poole outside her vehicle.

When police arrived on scene, Poole was found unconscious and bleeding in the “passageway of her own residence.” Birmingham firefighters pronounced her dead at the scene at 10:31 p.m.

Police said they documented at least 168 shots.

After the shooting, Janiyah fled the scene in Poole's Ford sedan and later abandoned it in a parking lot.

Poole was a single mother of a kindergarten-age daughter.

Residents of the complex and witnesses to the shooting said it was “like a movie,” describing seeing several different shooters wearing masks and carrying Glock switches for “assault rifles.”

One resident said: “That's why they came. They were so organized. They had cordoned off everything, penned everyone in.”

According to police, the investigation into Poole's shooting is still ongoing.

“We believe there was more than just these two shootings, so we'll see where this takes us,” Officer Thurmond said.

Police ask anyone with information or additional video of the incident to call Criminal Investigation at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
