Driver arrested after collision with New Hampshire state trooper in Haverhill

HAVERHILL – A woman faces serious charges after colliding with a New Hampshire State Police patrol car in Haverhill.

On Wednesday, August 21, Trooper Jawara Conde was dispatched to assist Haverhill Police Department officers in the pursuit of a white Hyundai Elantra that failed to comply with a request to stop.

While Trooper Conde was traveling north on County Road, he observed the vehicle traveling south, driving erratically and changing lanes.

Despite turning on his hazard lights to stop, the Hyundai, driven by 38-year-old Abigail Ordway of Littleton, crashed into the patrol car.

Ordway attempted to escape by backing up and turning the vehicle around, but ended up off the road and in a ditch.

Ordway was arrested and charged with serious crimes, including reckless handling of a deadly weapon, pursuing a habitual offender, and malicious damage to property.

In addition, she is charged with serious drunkenness offenses (attempted flight from the police), drunkenness offenses (impairment of driving), conduct after an accident and disobedience to a police officer.

Following her arraignment on Thursday, August 22, Ordway was held in preventive custody at the Grafton County Department of Corrections.

Trooper Conde was not injured in the incident.

Woodsville ambulance, Haverhill police and Bath police responded to the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone with further information to contact Trooper Jacob Ingerson via email: [email protected] or call (603) 223-8477.
