AAP: Opposition politicizes “family feud”

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized on Saturday Opposition parties about the Amritsar NRI Dismissal Caseand accused them of politicizing a “family dispute” and deliberately linking the incident to administrative offenses.
AAP senior spokesperson Neel Garg said the NRI's family had clarified that the attack was carried out by his ex-wife's family, making it a personal rather than a political matter. Garg complained that many opposition leaders were taking advantage of the situation.
Garg said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed the Attorney General to take strict action against the perpetrators and ensure that no one is spared. The police are investigating as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, he said.
Garg criticised SAD and recalled that during the Badal government, an ASI was killed in Amritsar while protecting his daughter's honour. He alleged that the perpetrators were linked to SAD. Garg questioned the BJP's silence on current issues such as the shooting of an MP in Haryana and the torture of a Dalit man in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, who was demanding his wages.
Garg pointed out that data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) suggested that law and order in Punjab was better compared to BJP-ruled and other neighbouring states.
