NTSB investigates Kent seaplane crash that left pilot unconscious in Lake Meridian

Authorities in Kent responded to Lake Meridian after receiving multiple reports of a seaplane crashing into the lake.

Kent police said Puget Sound officers and firefighters were dispatched to Lake Meridian at 10:10 a.m.

Callers reported to police that the plane was upside down in the water and sank about 300 feet from shore. Witnesses also said that several boats were already on the lake searching for occupants before the pilot was found.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the seaplane was a Cessna A185F.

According to Puget Sound Fire, firefighters, a Kent officer and a local resident entered the water to rescue the pilot.

The pilot was unconscious when he was found, police said. Resuscitation began immediately. Paramedics are currently on site, but his condition is unknown.

Boaters were also on site and helped to tow the seaplane closer to shore.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the seaplane crash.
