Christopher McQuarrie hints that Tom Cruise will get into trouble in the new 'Mission: Impossible' movie

Christopher McQuarrie has hinted that Ethan Hunt is in trouble in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

The 54-year-old director is directing the next two films in the action series and claims the title suggests that Tom Cruise's hero and other characters could be in danger as the film progresses.

Christopher told Empire magazine: “A lot of things are coming to light from Ethan’s past.

“'Dead reckoning' is a navigation term that means you choose a course based solely on your last known position, and that's a real metaphor not just for Ethan, but for several characters.”

The next Mission: Impossible story will be told in two films, and McQuarrie is determined to make it a standout project in the long-running action series.

The director of Jack Reacher said: “The first thing we knew was that if it was going to be a big adventure in two parts, it had to be epic.”

“It has to be the part that encapsulates the rest of the franchise. There's just no other way to do it.”

Insiders claim that Cruise is planning some of the “biggest and most expensive stunts yet” for the sequel “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two”.

A source revealed: “Tom doesn't do things by halves and just like 'Mission: Impossible 7', the eighth film will be an absolute smash hit. No expense was spared in this production.”

“Tom and the crew flew to Limpopo in South Africa to film and set up a huge base there. He lives in Hoedspruit and travelled the 400 miles round trip for filming by helicopter most days.”
