Seahawks injury news: Uchenna Nwosu injures knee, Artie Burns carried off the field

Unfortunately, two Seattle Seahawks defensive players were injured in the first quarter of Saturday night's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

First-string linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, recently returned from injury, was slow to get back to his feet after being blocked by Browns guard Wyatt Teller early in the first quarter. Nwosu jogged off under his own power, but was later seen having his left knee wrapped in ice after leaving the medical tent. He returned to the locker room shortly afterward.

Later in the first quarter, cornerback Artie Burns sustained an apparently non-contact injury to his left foot. He could be seen hopping on his right leg and grabbing his left foot just before leaving the field. He was later carried off the field without his left shoe. Burns had been competitive in the game prior to his injury, making a total of two tackles – one unassisted.

Nwosu's injury occurred on the only series in which defensive players were in the starting lineup the entire game, while Burns was injured on the defense's second possession of the game. Those injuries occurred right as the Seahawks traded CB Mike Jackson Sr. to the Carolina Panthers and OLB Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears.

We will learn more about their injuries after the game from Mike Macdonald.
