Three-year-old boy killed in tragic accident near Kulithalai

In a tragic accident, a three-year-old boy named Dharshid, son of Murugesan of Chinnakalathupatti near Nachalur, died on Saturday (25 August 2024) after he was caught in a pipe carrying irrigation water.

According to sources, Dharshid was playing with a boy named Mahizhan, son of Kandasamy, near a field when he accidentally fell into an open cement chamber. The chamber was connected to a cement pipe hidden in the ground that carried water for irrigation. The water current is said to have dragged Dharshid into the cement pipe.

Based on the information received from Mahizhan, the locals, including farmers, swung into action and tried to rescue Dharshid. With the help of a backhoe, they broke open the cement pipe for about 100 metres and finally found Dharshid's body stuck inside.

Kulithalai police rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
