Grand Central Avenue reopened after accident

VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) – According to Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell, a minivan was attempting to cross the street from Applebee's to Wal-Mart when a BMW failed to stop at a red light and struck the side of the minivan.

According to Police Chief Powell, there were two people in each vehicle and one passenger in the minivan was trapped. All four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of Grand Central Avenue were closed while emergency crews were on scene, but have since reopened.

Responding agencies included the Vienna Police Department, the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, Camden Clark Ambulance Services and Saint Joseph's Ambulance Services.

According to Wood County Emergency Services, emergency crews are on the scene of an accident outside a Wal-Mart in Vienna that was reported at 6:37 p.m. Saturday.

Due to the accident, all northbound lanes are currently closed.

The accident occurred between two vehicles. According to 9-1-1, there are several injuries.

There is currently no information available about the extent of the injuries.
